Beat the Winter Blues with Colour!
Beat the Winter Blues with Colour!
Are you a sufferer of the Winter Blues?
You’re not alone. The cold, wet weather has the GlobeWest team scurrying indoors, seeking solace (and a warm fireplace) too.
It makes sense. It’s dreary and freezing outside. Our homes are our sanctuaries, our personal cocoons. But that doesn’t mean time inside has to be dull.
Whilst it’s certainly personal, experts have found colour can influence how we feel and act.
“Artists and interior designers have long believed that colour can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions.”, says Psychology teacher Kenda Cherry.
In an effort to brighten your winter, we have provided some tips and inspiration on how colour can influence your space!
Read below for insights on some key colour palettes for your interiors plus hear from colour expert Julia Green.
ORANGE & YELLOW
Yellow is a great way to bring a sense of sunshine and lightness into your home. Add orange or rust tones for a bolder look that adds warmth and joy to your space.

PINK
Pink is a lovely option for bringing a sense of femininity into a space. This versatile colour can be toned up or down for a relaxing or energetic feel.

GREEN
Adding green to your home brings a freshness and sense of life that feels welcoming to guests. A great place to utilise green both in pallet and plants is in the entryway and living areas of your home.

BLUE
Lastly, blue is known as a colour of loyalty and integrity. Varying darker shades of blue bring a sense of strength, while lighter shades evoke peaceful calm.
"When used in the home, it's a breath of fresh air and looks fabulous in beach homes or as a feature against a white background. Blue is timeless and ever so easy to live with.” Julia Green
