Living in a rental doesn't have to mean sacrificing a bespoke, comfortable space. With a few simple styling tips, you can transform your rental into a custom interior with a designer feel. Here are five tips to elevate your rental space:
Embrace Versatile Furniture
When it comes to renting, flexible and versatile furniture is your best friend. Opt for pieces that serve multiple purposes, such as a modular sofa that can be rearranged for different spaces, an ottoman that serves as a coffee table or slim console that can become a desk space.
These pieces not only save space but also adapt to your changing needs, making your rental feel both functional and fashionable.
Strategic Colour Selection
Inject a burst of personality and color into your rental by incorporating textiles and playful occasional pieces. While renters don't often have the option to add colour into the more permanent fixtures of the home, a vibrant rug, occasional chair or side table can bring enough colour to create a cohesive and customised theme.
Artful Wall Decor
Don't let bland walls dampen your style. Since you might not be able to paint, opt for a large artwork or gallery wall to fill your interiors with life. Use removable wall hangers for a curated look without causing any damage.
Lighting Magic
Good lighting can transform the ambiance of any space. Replace harsh overhead lighting with soft, warm-toned lamps and pendant lights to create a cozy atmosphere. If you have down-lights, try adding a hook in the ceiling for your pendant light and run a cord back to the nearest power point.
Layering different light sources – from floor lamps to string lights – adds depth and warmth, making your rental feel considered and inviting.
Styling a rental space is all about finding creative ways to infuse your personal style while respecting the limitations that come with temporary living. By embracing versatile furniture, incorporating colour, adding wall art and playing with lighting, you can elevate your rental into a stylish sanctuary that truly feels like home.

Living in an apartment, having a dining set-up can often be ignored for lack of space. But, since opting to transform my small office multi-functional dining room I have a new found appreciation and love for a dining space.
What I love most about this space is that it feels like a private room in a fancy restaurant. A place to retreat with friends and also a cute spot for an at-home date night.
The size of the room naturally feels nice and intimate for date nights or catching up with the recent gossip with some friends.
If you’re in the process of wanting to add to or create a dining space, I’d recommend you check out GlobeWest Outlet. It’s one of my go-to’s to find quality furniture and home decor bits that are significantly reduced in price.
They have plenty of clearance stock on their website, but I always head in-store to check out what else is available.
They’re open year-round, Monday-Saturday and super helpful in giving style advice and if you’re after something in particular they’ll get your details and call if the item comes in. And there are so many one-offs and samples that come in-store too that you can't see online. So it’s always well worth heading over and seeing what’s new in.
1. It’s all about the Table;
Opting for a round table was best to fit in the space so people can walk around easily.
I also love a round table because I feel like everyone can see one another and speak as a group nicely vs a rectangular table can be a bit one on one with the person directly in front of you.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous round table, the Tully dining table from GlobeWest Outlet is the perfect size for a smaller dining nook or open-plan kitchen/dining space. The natural timber and added texture on the base of the table add dimension and has a timeless look and feel.
2. Lighting is so important;
Placing a large pendant above the table also makes the space feel more intimate. Centering the eye to the middle of the space and feeling like you’re in a small cocoon. A large statement pendant also just added more interest to the space. I kept it light and airy with a rice paper lantern. It floats above you and adds a dreamy, retreat feel.
I love the size and texture of the Lula Woven Pendant. Its classic shape and natural cane adds warmth and will cast a beautiful dapple light effect making it super ambient and romantic. I also love this cone option too.
3. Utilise Open Seating;
I kept my dining chairs low profile with stem legs and a back cut out so the eye can see through them. It’s ideal in smaller spaces to have furniture that’s light in colour and you can see through so the eye can still see to the back wall. It makes the room feel larger vs block furniture which suits a larger space. Just like these Plantation Bell Dining Chairs.
4. Always add in a rug;
A rug (despite having carpet) is the perfect thing to ground your furniture in the space. It instantly makes everything feel like it should be where it is. Not only that, a rug adds so softness and texture. The benefit of a rug is that it absorbs some of that loud laughter and music. I adore this Tepih Ida Rug. Such a beautiful design and so soft! The perfect size to fit a table and chairs.
5. Keep things looking fresh with Home Decor
Swapping out your cushions and linen is a great way to change up the look and keep each dinner party feeling like a separate occasion. I’m loving the look of these Iggy Stripe cushions. They’re in my favourite size 65x45cm. They sit perfectly on a chair and add in some lower back support whilst not taking over the whole seat.
5 Bonus Tips;
No phones or TV! The best thing about having a separate room is no screens.
I believe all food tastes better shared - The act of serving food amongst friends adds to the atmosphere. So large share bowls of pasta and salads passed around the table brings activity and an added buzz to the meal - I also love a good charcuterie/cheeseboard to nibble on throughout the night.
Lamps and candlelight instantly adds drama and romance.
Some cool jazz covers are great for entertaining because it feels like a restaurant but your friend might pick up that it's a cover of the latest hit.
Same with some flowers. They don’t need to be elaborate, just two bunches of the same or different styles placed in a vase can make your table look entirely different each dinner time.
Be sure to go and check out the GlobeWest Outlet this weekend and any time you’re after some seriously good deals on quality furniture at 20-22 Parsons Ave, Springvale VIC. Here are a few more sneak peeks of what’s in the dining sale offer atm!

Feel inspired by our team’s favourite springtime activities below.
Gracie says – gather for a feast!
There’s nothing that feels more relaxing to me than enjoying a glass of wine and some nibble in the sunshine. I’m excited to take a few blankets and a heap of cushions out to the park for a picnic.
One of my favourite picnic foods is some homemade flatbread (or store-bought sourdough depending on how much effort I can be bothered with!) to dip in balsamic vinegar and dukkha.
Pictured: various cushions available here or shop a larger selection instore.
Michelle says – delve into a good book.
I love a relaxing afternoon outdoors in the spring. When the weather is nice, I’ll be out there reading a book by the pool on my sun bed (confession – this is usually a good romance novel, haha)!
Pictured: Sonoma Florida Straight Sunbed in Light Grey / Teak available online. Other sunbeds available instore.
David says – set up the alfresco.
Spring is the beginning of outdoor lounging and dining weather. I’m excited to use this time to reorganise my backyard for entertaining as we’re heading towards warmer evenings.
Suddenly my outdoor sofas and dining tables start to come out from the garage and the backyard begins to look a lot more inhabitable!
Pictured: Positano Woven 3 Seater Sofa in Ink/Licorice available online.
Vanessa says – Enjoy the backyard with family.
I’m looking forward to having nicer weather so my kids can play outside.
My ideal spring day looks like sitting on my outdoor sofa with a spritz of some sort, my husband on the BBQ, watching the kids jump on the trampoline (coming soon, Santa’s still making it)!
Pictured: Tahiti Rope 3 Seater Sofa in Taupe/Natural, available online.
Casey says – Take the dogs out!
I’m so excited to finally be able to take our dogs out for longer runs again. The cold, wet weather has made it harder to go on as many walks so I’m very keen to spend a decent amount of time out at the dog park.

]]>Here are 4 tips for decorating large spaces for making your interiors feel comfortable, inviting, and luxurious.
1. Create Zones
Just because the walls of your living space are set far apart, doesn't mean your family and friends have to be.
Arrange your furniture in smaller square or circular formations to create multiple zones. This not only adds visual appeal but also extends the functionality of your space.
Pictured: Cleo Sleigh Barstools
2. Utilise Varying Heights
Try to avoid placing everything at sofa height. Tall ceilings often need furnishings at varying heights to create depth and dimension.
Instead, opt for a mixture of grounded pieces, taller consoles, wall art, and statement light fixtures or hanging plants.
Pictured: Otis Buffet
3. Add Warmth with Variety and Texture
An easy way to soften a large space is by adding a modest variety of textiles.
Utilise soft upholstery, textured rugs, a combination of cushions and blankets, as well as woven baskets to create a sense of inviting comfort.
4. Let your Room Breath
A large space can be tempting to over-style. However, the reason we love open interiors is the opportunity they give us to stretch out and relax!
Give yourself a chance to enjoy your space by pairing back on groupings of multiple, small objects. Instead, opt for a limited selection of larger decorative items that add beauty to your space.

You’re not alone. The cold, wet weather has the GlobeWest team scurrying indoors, seeking solace (and a warm fireplace) too.
It makes sense. It’s dreary and freezing outside. Our homes are our sanctuaries, our personal cocoons. But that doesn’t mean time inside has to be dull.
Whilst it’s certainly personal, experts have found colour can influence how we feel and act.
“Artists and interior designers have long believed that colour can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions.”, says Psychology teacher Kenda Cherry.
In an effort to brighten your winter, we have provided some tips and inspiration on how colour can influence your space!

]]>Below, we discuss 5 key styling tips for decorating your dining room and kitchen to achieve cohesion and interest.
1. Consider the shape of your dining table
To best optimise your space, opt for rectangular tables in longer rooms, oval or round tables in more confined spaces, or compliment a square room with a similarly shaped dining table.
Pictured: Bruno Dining Table
2. Go bold but compatible with dining chairs
Choose a common element to incorporate in both your dining chairs and table choice for a distinctive yet cohesive look. Look to material finish, matching legs or even a more subtle point of commonality such as the design era to tie the space together.
Pictured: Plantation Belles Dining Chairs
3. Revive plain cabinetry with contemporary hardware
Bring to life an uninspiring set of cupboards by swapping out the handles. Experiment with interesting finishes such as wood, metal, or marble for a convenient and affordable kitchen revamp.
4. Balance storage and style
Contemporary kitchen trends lean towards closed shelving currently, so there’s no need for copious amounts of impractical, open shelving. Strike a balance between practicality and a touch of personality by keeping your functional pieces and serving ware behind cupboard doors, while opting for 1 or 2 shelves or the corner of a long bench space to display a vignette of decorative pieces.
5. Add interest with a statement light fixture
Statement light fixtures are a great way to draw the eye and add visual interest to a space. Utilise a large pendant light or two above the dining table in an open plan living space to help define a welcoming dining zone.

1. Soften with Touches of Nature
Create a sense of comfort in your outdoor area by utilising plants as a form of soft furnishing. Soften harsh exteriors with a vertical garden or climbing plants or create privacy with a wall of ferns or bamboo.
Pictured: Lyon 1 Seater Sofa in Oyster/White
2. Accessorise with Cushions and Throws
One of the quickest and easiest ways to add warmth to a space is with cushions and throws. Don’t be afraid to mix and match with one or two key tones in various textures. Try using warmer hues in the colder months this will help add warmth visually.
Consider adding storage in close proximity to store additional throws and cushions for easy layering.
Pictured: Southport 3 Seater Sofa in Pebble
3. Choose Plush Furniture
Just as important as decorating with soft furnishings is selecting furniture with plush cushioning.. If you’re looking to create a cosy, backyard haven for the winter months, choose pieces with well-padded backrests and seating. You can browse our weatherproof, durable & comfortable outdoor sofas here.

4. Create Warm Lighting
Elevate your outdoor evening with soft, ambient lighting. Look to pendant lights with natural finishes, candles hung or bundled in glass vessels, or a statement fire pit to enhance the comfort of your setting.
5. Use Natural Materials and Colours
Texture plays a large role in shaping a cosy outdoor living space. Earthy materials such as warm timbers and stone help to create a calm and comforting environment. Utilise natural materials and neutral colour palettes to add tactile warmth to your alfresco.

]]>Below, we provide tips and advice on creating a stylish sanctuary, a space that's yours to reinvigorate your senses and naturally move your awareness to the present.
Tip 1: Comfort and Ease
To find comfort within your space, begin by understanding your personal preferences:
Pictured: Orlando Cloud 3 Seater Right Arm in White Dove
Tip 2: Line of Sight
Once you are seated and comfortable, it is important to consider your line of sight. Arrange the area around you by prioritising what your eyes are landing on. Choose a beautiful storage unit to display and house your favourite piece of art or a family photo that makes you happy.
Try to bring colour into your view by facing a window where you can see greenery or a garden, alternatively, consider adding colour to your space with artwork, a calming wall colour, or indoor plants.

Tip 3: Reinvigorate the Senses
Trigger your senses by lighting a candle at the end of the day, or placing freshly cut flowers in the home to centre yourself and be present. Aromas can soothe, relax and uplift the mood in any space.
Tip 4: Touch and Texture
Touch and texture will continue to ground you and create a sense of ease. Choosing a statement piece or mixing textures such as a boucle chair or a woollen rug can make us feel safe, calm, and relaxed.
Pictured: Tepih Poppy Rug in Mid Grey
Tip 5: Decluttering
Lastly, a clean and uncluttered living space goes a long way to promoting a clear and relaxed state of mind. However, it’s not always a reality to remove all functional items from your home. Instead, think about which few pieces you’d like to keep visible. Save open shelving for a few decorative pieces and store the rest in equally beautiful, enclosed storage furniture.

]]>
These four achievable tips will have you welcoming guests in style.
Selecting the right furniture for an entryway is key. Measure up the area you plan to place your console, ensuring you have enough room for people to easily walk past without bumping into your pieces.
Also consider the style of the other furniture pieces in the home to ensure the console won't clash. The front entrance of your home can set the tone of your interior aesthetic, slipping into the rest of the scheme cohesively.
Pictured: Gus Wave Stool in Natural Ash
When styling console tables, sideboards or bookshelves, always start with your hero piece first. It's the one piece that will be the focal point in the space. This is usually art or a mirror when styling a console.
If you don't have a hero art piece, an oversized vase of greenery or flowers can also act as a great focal point.
Pictured: Elle Cube Marble Console in Black
Consistency is key when deciding on hallway or entryway decorating ideas. Here are two different approaches you can take:
On the opposite side of the console to the hero piece, style with medium height objects such as a table lamp to create asymmetrical balance.
For the finishing touch when styling your console, create vignettes of 3 or 5 pieces. This is a great way to add a touch of personality, utilising a combination of neutrally aesthetic and sentimental objects. Keep it simple as console tables are narrow, so too many elements could look messy.

This week on the blog, we discuss 5 key styling tips for decorating small spaces and maximising on the area that you have available.
1. From Floors to Walls
One way to de-clutter is to move things from your floor and mount them onto your walls!
Where possible, swap things like display cabinets for wall shelving, floor lamps for hung lighting and blanket baskets for ladder hangings. This will promote ease of access around a small living room, bedroom, or kitchen and help to make your interiors feel larger.
Pictured: Balthazar Light Pendants
2. Choose Furniture with Legs
Select furniture that allows the eye to see through to the other side of the room. Sofas, occasional chairs, and buffets that have a thin frame and / or raised legs promote uninhibited visibility, creating a feeling of openness in a room.
Pictured: Otis Buffet in Natural Ash/White
3. For Rugs, Think Big!
Rugs are a key tool for defining special zones within a home. In a small house, choosing a small rug will make the interior it sits within feel just as small. Instead, opt for a rug that goes the entire space and can fit most of your furniture within its boundaries.
For more tips on choosing and arranging the right rug layout, view our Rug Selection Guide.
4. Customise your Space
Highly adaptable, modular sofas are a great way to customize to the needs of your space. Play around with seating configurations to suit the shape of your living room. Don’t have much room length-ways? Maximise space with an open square configuration for a cosy sofa layout that facilitates conversation.
Pictured: Gus Podium Sofas in Bayview Silver
5. Utilise Natural Light
Natural light helps a space to feel more open and inviting. Maximize natural light in your interiors by avoiding heavy window coverings like plantation shutters. If you’re someone who needs complete darkness to sleep, opt for block out blinds that can be retracted during the day.
Additionally, you can decorate small spaces with mirrors to reflect more natural light around the room. Mirrors can also create the subtle illusion of extra space.
]]>KETI LYTRAS
GLOBEWEST HEAD OF CREATIVE
As GlobeWest’s Head of Creative, (the ever humble but ridiculously talented and insightful) Keti Lytras overseas the creative direction of our vast furniture and homewares collections.
Below, Keti shares with us her inspiration behind Sculptural Minimalism and what it’s all about.
Sculptural Minimalism | Keti Lytras Q&A
Where did the idea for the theme originate and what lifestyle factors drove the design direction?
Sculptural Minimalism was born from a growing desire for mindful living and is rooted in Modern living interiors.
The theme explores the need to disconnect to connect, get rid of clutter and dedicate spaces for quiet reflection.
Who and what was your inspiration?
We were inspired by a combination of Brutalist architecture and Henry Moore’s figurative forms.
Brutalist is a raw, architectural style that flourished in the mid 1950s to mid 1970s, originally descending from the modernist architectural movement of the 20th century.
Henry Moore (1898-1986) was an English artist best known for his semi abstract monumental bronze sculptures, which are located throughout the world as public works of art.
How would you describe your direction?
Products are grounded, remain highly functional yet are more sculptural.
Minimalism has taken a sculptural turn with rounded silhouettes bringing new life to monochromatic interiors.
There’s a commitment to extreme simplicity and clean lines.
What material features most prominently?
The quality of textures and finishes are key to this trend.
Composite stone, travertine and ceramic finishes are the elemental materials used to create solidity and weight.
Glass and finer frames bring a lightness to the range, origami wall art adding a slightly Japanese twist.

]]>On the blog today, we discuss some simple styling tips and tricks to making the boudoir of your dreams a reality.
Pictured: Vittoria Stitched Bed in Cement
Tip 1. Consider the mood of the space you want to create first and align your styling decisions to this tone
For a place of retreat, turn the volume down in palette with softer, calmer tones, avoiding more vibrant colours and harsh lines. Use softer furnishings and designate a place for technology, far removed from your bed.
Tip 2. Mix and match linen for a touch of bespoke personality
Instead of sticking to strict uniformity with the one linen set, try mixing a few complimentary colours between your quilt cover, sheets and pillowcases. Play around with texture too by adding a chunky knit throw in winter, or a light patterned coverlet in the warmer months.
Pictured: Felix Cocoon Bed in Light Grey
Tip 3. Prioritise creating the right atmosphere with light
Light in the bedroom should be catered to your needs and how you best sleep. If you are a ‘light’ sleeper, opting for block-out blinds will create an environment that allows your body to get a full night’s rest (and enjoy a luxurious sleep-in on the weekend).
If you are less light sensitive, soft sheer blinds will allow more beautiful natural light to pass through in the mornings and can be easily retracted for full sunlight during the day.
Tip 4. Scents are most impactful in the bedroom
Playing with all senses is the key to any well-styled room, but in the bedroom, sound and smell play a particularly important role. A light linen spray can have a calming effect when slipping into bed, as can the ambiance of a gentle scented candle. Alternatively, sweet-scented blooms can be a beautiful addition to the bedroom, as can the simplicity of a single monsteria leaf.
Pictured: Luca 2 Drawer Bedside in White
Tip 5. Sometimes less is more
Oftentimes, a clear, uncluttered space means a clear mind. There’s no need to fill your bedroom with too much. Keep it minimal, adding a few functional pieces and allow space in the room to breathe. The simplicity of a bedroom is often what makes it so beautiful and serene. If you’re struggling for storage solutions, use under bed storage so that the mess is out of sight, out of mind.

Tip 1. Choose a decorative item that inspires you
Create atmosphere by adding a personalised item or artwork for your eyes to rest on. Something that can bring you back to the present when there is information overload!
Tip 2. Pick a scented candle
A scented candle can have both visual and mindfulness benefits. They can complement your home aesthetic, and the right scent can help alleviate stress or invigorate and energise, whichever you need!
Tip 3. Refresh your note books
New Year, new you! Gift yourself a new note book that lives on your desk for all those ideas that spring to mind while you work. I personally love sketching and hand writing ideas in a leather notebook. For me, there's something about the tangible, paper format that engages the creative brain.
Tip 4. Add a touch of greenery
If your desk faces away from natural light, add some greenery or a small succulent plant by your desk. This will help natural air flow and add a bit of colour to your work space, plants also have air purifying attributes to help keep the air clear around you.
Tip 5. Natural furnishings
Your stylistic elements aren’t complete without the foundations of your workspace. Timber desks bring warmth and are timeless choices. Add texture with a quilted or soft felt chair or if you love colour, why not finish off the space with a bright, beautiful teal armchair!
